It Can Change Your Life Forever
“The people, the places, the beauty – it’s like nothing on earth.
And when you visit, Alaska becomes a part of your soul forever. In
fact, every Alaskan you meet will undoubtedly be able to tell you
the story of a personal friend who came to Alaska for a visit and
never left.”
Summer is the peak season of Alaska. This is when most of
Alaska’s visitors travel. The days are longest, the temperatures
warmest. Some activities or accommodations may only be available
during this time. This season is ideal for outdoor activities like
hiking, camping, river rafting, sightseeing, and of course, world
famous fishing.

Winter is a time when Alaska sparkles and shines, when much
of the land is covered by a blanket of soft snow. This is the time
to see the northern lights, share in the excitement of the
world-famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, watch the world ice
carving competition in Fairbanks or enjoy the Anchorage Winter
Festival (Fur Rhondy). Winter activities include downhill and
cross-country skiing, snow machining, snowshoeing and dog sled
riding.
Alaska is a magical land anytime of the year. I would love to
introduce you to the state if you have never been or assist you in
your planning of a return visit. It is a special place for me and I
would be honored to show you around. Looking forward to hearing from
you !!!
As a Destination Specialist, my story begins in
1952, when my Air Force father was transferred to Elmendorf AFB in
Anchorage, Alaska. Alaska at that time was a territory of the United
States & would not become a state until 1959.
My memories of that
time were of snow forts in our front yard, volcanoes erupting &
covering the city with ash, feeding moose that wandered into town
during the winter, racing down steep hills on our sleds, and my
Dad’s homemade ice rink in the backyard.
Later, I returned to the
very same Air Force Base as a member of the U.S. Navy, and was
surprised by how much had remained the same since my visit in 1952.
After leaving the Navy, I enrolled at the University of Alaska
Fairbanks and completed three years towards my degree in Zoology.
After graduation, I returned to Alaska to work as a Research
Biologist for the Department of Fish & Game, working with the
Commercial Fisheries Division. We moved to Southern California in
1983 and I have been leading my Iditarod Tours from San Diego since
1996.
